Work In Progress Show in Central Saint Martins 12-15 JAN 2016 Benedict Andersen said "Media produced nations as Imagined communities'(1983). National systems of media play a strong role in the identity of nations. My questions are: How do communist and capitalist systems represent their identities through mass media differently? How do they each reimagine and redefine their own position through their media systems? Rodong, a newspaper in North Korea, is totally controlled by state for specific purposes, Most of sentence in articles is with 'Dear leader' and Kim is center on a photography. In contrast, The New York Times is one of the most commercial media outlets, over 40 percent advertising. In addition, they describe each other as victim of each systems and hostile strongly. This complexity makes receiving un-biased information from mass media difficult.
